Today in this travelogue, I am going to share my experience of traveling to the most popular and beautiful place, Eco Park in Kolkata.
The Eco Park is one of the most popular winter destinations in Kolkata. If you are from West Bengal, you know people love to explore many Kolkata tourist spots like the Indian Museum, Alipur Zoo, Victoria Memorial, Eco Park, and many others.
Recently I visited the mini zoo, in Bardhaman town. When I was there, I planned to visit the Eco Park in Rajarhat.
Being a Bengali, I am excited to share my whole experience about visiting this beautiful tourist destination in Kolkata, the Eco Park.
So, let’s start. But before that, the weekly off day is Monday.

Solar Dome: The New Attraction of Eco Park
I aimed to explore the Solar Dome, India’s first-ever renewable energy museum. If you want to know how would be our future in coming years, you must come and visit the Solar Dome once.
The entry fee is INR 200 for everyone above the age of 3 years. The student discount is there. For a group tour of the students, the amount is INR 100 for each.
You can take Robot as your assistant. For that, it would take INR 100 as an extra.
I went there on 4th December. I got down at Bally railway station and then boarded a local bus.
The bus took 45 minutes from Bally Halt to Eco Park. I descended at gate number 4. Then I reached to the Eco Park.
I booked an entry ticket (valid for Eco Park open spaces) of INR 30 and started walking towards Solar Dome.
After some time, I reached the most desired Solar Dome.
Why Solar Dome is a Must Visit Destination
Located within Kolkata’s sprawling Eco Park, the Solar Dome stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability. This unique structure, designed to educate and inspire, is the first Renewable Energy Museum in India, showcasing the marvels of sustainable technology and environmental conservation.
A Sustainable Masterpiece
The Solar Dome rises impressively to a height of 27 meters with a diameter of 45 meters. Its exterior is adorned with over 2,000 solar panels, generating approximately 180 kilowatts of electricity.
There are some 150 WP (Watt Peak) panels and 260 WP (Watt Peak) panels for producing energy.
This energy powers the dome itself and even contributes to the surrounding infrastructure, such as streetlights, highlighting the practical application of renewable energy.
The design is as symbolic as it is functional—the dome mimics the sun, a reminder of the limitless potential of solar power.
What’s Inside the Dome?
The Solar Dome offers an engaging, multi-level experience that’s both educational and entertaining:
- Interactive Exhibits: Visitors can explore around 50 interactive displays explaining various forms of renewable energy, such as solar, wind, and tidal power.
- Immersive Tunnels: Walk through six themed tunnels that provide insights into the effects of climate change and the importance of sustainability.
- Robotic Guides: Innovative robots guide visitors through the exhibits, making learning fun and interactive.
- Viewing Gallery: The top level houses a viewing deck offering breathtaking panoramic views of Eco Park and the surrounding New Town area.

This architectural marvel is not just a museum; it’s a symbol of Kolkata’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable development. It’s an ideal destination for:

Rest Eco Park Tour
I utilized my maximum time exploring the Solar Dome as it was an innovative one. After a couple of hours, I started exploring the other sections of Eco Park.
During that time, I finished my lunch with noodles from there. The quality of the food was averagely good. The price for egg noodles was INR 160. Though there are lots of other food options for you. After a while, I visited the most exciting attraction of Eco Park, the Seven Wonders of the World.
