There are some trains from Howrah to Amta route. Jhaluarber station is established on 1897 during the British era.
Once in 1971, the route between Jhaluarber and Santragachi was closed. In 2004 this route again reopened.

Though there are many trains available from Howrah to Amta, the intervals of trains are long.
So, know the train time first then plan to reach here.
Another route is, you can reach here from Dankuni. The distance between Dankuni and Jhaluarber is around 11 kms. The time will take around 40 minutes.
The surprising fact is the single platform. Almost rare in this era.

Though I prefer winter and monsoon to visit here.

In winter, the slanted fog and sunlight amid forest, makes this place mysterious. It is becoming an offbeat picnic spot.
Additionally, you’ll see the vast field with various vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, etc.
If you are looking for an offbeat and calm place near Kolkata for picnic, Jhaluarber would be undowbtedly an ideal one.
In monsoon, this place become more fresh and greeny. Rathyatra is one of the major festival here in this offbeat location near Kolkata.
Near Jhaluarber station, you’ll find the Harkali temple. In Shivaratri, people come here and worship God Shiva.

Train Fare
The train fare from Howrah (HWH) to Jhaluarber (JLBR) is only INR 5 – 10. I have one suggestion, please buy return ticket.
Why?
The ticket counter near the station is abandoned. (I don’t know if there is any ticket counter). So having a return ticket is good option.

Winter is preferable for both visiting and picnicing . Monsoon is ideal to enjoy greenery. The distance between Howrah station and Jhaluarber is around 20 kms which takes 50 minutes in average.
